A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas - Spoiler free entry

A Court of Thorns and Roses is a new book in a new triology by Sarah J. Maas. Also, Sarah herself shortens it to "Acotar" when she speaks about the book, so I'm going to do that aswell in this entry, since "A court of Thorns and Roses" takes forever to say/type.

Here is what it says in the description of the book:

When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow grows over the faerie lands, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

This entry is going to be spoiler free (as it says in the title) so I'm just going to tell you what I thought of the book in general, about the writing, character development, etcetera. Without spoiling what happens in the book.

First of all I have to say that I loved this book very very much. And if you've read the Thrones of Glass series you're probably thinking that Sarah could not possibly have made a better book/series than that. But the thing is that you cannot really compare the different series. So far I love them equally much. Both of them are High fantasy, of course, so maybe you could compare the genres of high fantasy; which one you love the most Ad if you cannot choose between the worlds you could choose in which of the books you love the characters the most, etcetera.

Acotar is in a world where there are humans and there are faeries. Those are the two ruling kinds. Then of course there are monsters and other scary creatures lurking in the forests. In Throne of Glass there are people and monsters and witches and lots of other speecies. And here you could choose which one you love the most. But the reason I don't know which book/series is better is because I can't choose between these to worlds. They are both so freaking awesome in their own way.

Many authors, when they write different book series, have a tendency to make the characters similar to each other. For example Cassandra Clare. Clary Fray (or whatever you want to call her) from TMI and Tessa Gray from TID are very alike in many ways, an also Will Herondale from TID and Jace (whatever last name you prefer) from TMI are very very much alike. But in acotar and Throne of Glass i have to say that the characters are entirely their own. Of course their could be some similarities between some characters, but no one is a rip off of anyone and if you compare them you cant really say that that person from acotar is like that person from Throne of Glass. If you compare them you are more likely to say "that person from acotar is a little like that person from Throne of Glass when it comes to this, but also a little like this person when it comes to that". So yeah, I think you get it; the characters are original and nobody is perfect. Everyone has flaws, as in reality. And that is another thing I love about Sarah J. Maas's writing. That all the character's have flaws, character development and a real personality.

As for the plot of the book I really enjoyed it! just the whole idea of it; the world; the people; everyone's purposes in the book; the magic; the back stories; everything! And also the romance was borderline new adult and not YA, so it's a bit more erotic than the Throne of Glass series. And it's just fantastic, I don't know what else to say.

I'd give the book 9/10 points. I don't actually know why I didn't give it a 10/10 but I just have this feeling that I only could give it a 9. Maybe because I'll need the 10 for the next two books in the series, I don't really know. But anyways, I highly recommend the book to any book lover, or fantasy lover or Throne of Glass lover. Just anyone who has ever given it a thought to start reading the book or heard about. You just have to read it!

The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa - A short book review

Hi guys it's Filippa. This morning I finished The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa; the sequel to The Immortal Rules.I suggest that you do NOT read this entry if you haven't read the first book, although there won't be spoilers so if you haven't read The Eternity Cure yet you're cool to go.

So the book is basically about when Allison is searching for her old master Kanin, who has been captured and tortured by a vampire called Sarren. Since Allison is Kanin's daughter she can feel where he is because of the blood bond between them. Also as Kanin gets more tortured he gets weaker, which means that the bond is getting weaker.

On her search for Kanin she meets an old enemy, Jackal, who is also her blood brother, and surprisingly, he is willing to help her search for Kanin.

So yeah, that is the plot of the book. And Oh My Freaking God I think I'm in love. For real though, the book was amazing. It's so good I freaking cried when I finished it this morning because I do not have the third part (I need it now!). The writing is really good and the character's are amazing. Everyone has their own flaws, nobody's perfect, and there are character development that you can see if you compare the character's to how they were in the beginning of the first book.
Does the book have any flaws? Many actually. But I think that the story is so good that I just kind of look past the flaws. And I've read the book in Swedish so the translation may have something to do with many of the flaws of the book. But as I mentioned; I don't really care about those flaws because I just LOVE LOVE LOVE the storyline and where it's heading. I am kind of obsessed with vampires so that could also be a factor to my love for the book.

Anyways, I think the second book was better that the first one, so if you've read the first one but not this one I highly recommend that you read it. There are a few plottwists (which are amazing) and it's really dramatic at some points. But the best of all; The ending. The End of the books seriously made me scream and cry and jump up and down. I'm still not able to start reading Paper Towns because I'm hyping over the ending of this book.

I would give the book 8/10 points in rating, and i recommend it to anyone who has only read the first book. Because I promise you; The Eternity Cure is better than The Immortal Rules. So if you liked the first book you are going to love the second one!

Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas - Book Review (Spoiler warning!)

This entry is going to be about my opinions of Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas. It's the third book in the throne of Glass series, and if you have not read the book I first of all reccomend you to do that, and second of all I suggest that you don't read this entry since there are going to be spoilers from the entire book in it. So here we go I guess: The second book ended with that Celaena was shipped of to Wendlyn, on a mission from the King of Adarlan, as his champion. Before she boarded the ship she whispered a date to Chaol. He later checked it up and realized that it was the day the king and queen of Terassen had been assassinated, and when the princess, Aelin, had disappeared. So he figured out that Celaena was the lost princess.
Heir of Fire is all about when Celaena, or Aelin, is in Wendlyn, trying to get into Doranelle in order to get answers from the Fae queen Maeve about the Wyrdkeys, that the king of Adarlan is using in order to control his kingdom. She meets some new characters in Wendlyn, among them a fae man called Rowan who will be a pretty important character in the book, and also a guy called Luca and an old man called Emrys.

The chapters in this beautifully, amazingly perfect book are divided between Celaena and the things happening in Wendlyn, Dorian and Chaol back in Adarlan, but also a whole new character. Her name is Manon Blackbeak and she's the heir of the blackbeak witch clan. She and all the other witches in her clan and two other clans (yellowlegs and blueblood) are going to train wyverns (a dragon specie) on the King's order. To be honest, I didn't really understand that part of the book. I think it was because the king wanted some sort of army of dragons, so in exchange of working for him they got their very own wyverns.

Anyways, this book was so freaking great that I haven't finished this book review until now (about three weeks after I finished it) because I've had the worst book slump after that. It was so good that I just wanted more of the series, but knowing that the forth book won't be released until september put me in a state where I couldn't read any other book or write this review. So for these three weeks I've been trying really hard to start reading again but i've only accomplished to read about 150 pages in Cress and about 20 pages in The Immortal Rules (yes I'm reading two books at the same time, although I don't usually do that).

But back to this stunningly beautiful book! If you haven't started to read the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas you have to! It's one of the best series ever! YOU HAVE TO READ IT!

I know that I've been hyping a bit over the first two books so it shouldn't be surprising that I'm hyping over this book as well. I mean; the character's are amazing, nobody's perfect and everyone has a story, and the world and the whole idea of the book series is super duper mega great, and the relationships between everyone are special from person to person, from one relation to another. And especially the whole idea around how Celaena is the lost princess. I did not see that coming until I accidently read the ending of Crown of Midnight when I had about 200 pages left of it... But still. I wouldn't have suspected it until the ending otherwise.
The character developments through the books are fantastic too. No one is becoming a flawless person in one second, everyone is developing in their own way in their own pace.

Another reason for my love to these books is the plottwists and surprises and unexpected scenarios. Like for example Dorian's magic. I did not see that coming, why does he have magic? And as I've mentioned before the huge plottwist where Celaena is the lost princess of Terassen.
But not only the bigger things, also the little details that I wasn't expecting. Like when Sorsha was beheaded; I literally screamed and cried, because I really shipped her and Dorian, but then she just died... Just like that... And even though this was a horrible thing I still love when I get little unexpected surprises like that.

This book was sooooo sooooo soooo good that I cannot give it anything lower than 9.5/10. I would give it a 10/10, but the reason I'm not doing that is because I had a hard time getting into the book. Not becasue it was slow or anything, but becaseu I had so much to do in school so it just felt as if it was slow when I could only read about two pages at a time and then I had to do something else. But after about 100 pages I really got into it and read constantly for a few days (I'm a pretty slow reader so yes; it took a few days).

I recommend this book to anyone who is into high fantasy, or if you like urban fantasy or some other kind of fantasy and want to try high fantasy. The Throne of Glass series is seriously the best high fantasy series that I know of!

PS. That's my morning face, and for some reason I chose not to wear any eye makeup... I regret that a lot now. So yeah, I usually look better ;)

Shatter Me Book Review- Spoiler warning!

Emma here! I finished Shatter me a couple of days ago, and now it's time for a review of it! Shatter me was by far one of the best books I have ever read. and I mean seriously. It was so well written, composed and unique in it's way. There were beautiful metaphors and sentences worth to quote on every single page. So let's get into the story.

Shatter me is a about a girl named Juliette. She's 17 years old, and has suffered from a curse since the day she was born. Her touch is lethal. 264 days she's been held captive in a dark cell, all alone. Until one day, when she gets a new cellmate. Adam is gorgeous, and he treats her like she's human, and not a monster. But is he really who he claims to be? All her life Juliette has longed for someone to love her, but can someone love a person they cannot touch? The world that Juliette lives in is destroyed. There's not much food left, and people die on the streets everyday. The climate is unstable, and the government has been taken over by The Reestablishment. They came with promises to provide everyone with homes and food, but it runs out that the new government is corrupt. So Juliette is constantly torn between wanting to get out of her cell, and afraid of what she might find outside. Does she really want to see the world out there? Or is it finally better in her cell?

Anyway, one day Juliette and Adam gets company. Guards invade their cell, and they get taken somewhere. Juliette then wakes up in a big mansion, which is owned by a guy named Warner. He is only 19, so quite young, but he has so much power that he seems older. But despite Warner's handsome appearance and striking blue eyes, there's something about him that's... off. Juliette soon finds out that he's a cold blooded murderer, and he wants her to be his torturing devise against the opposers to The Reestablishment. But the worst part is that Adam works for him. Adam, who Juliette fell in love with the second she saw him. While Warner tries to convince Juliette in the most cruel ways that she too is a murderer and a weapon, Adam is appointed the task of watching over her. It turns out that he's only there for her, and Juliette also finds out that he can touch her. Someone in the world can finally touch her.
One slight problem is that Warner seems to have formed an obsession with Juliette. He's with her at all times, constantly being to be seductive and claiming her as his own. Since there are cameras in Juliette's Room, she and Adam have to keep their relationship secret.

Now, I don't want to spoil everything for you. I thought that this books was exciting all the time, except for in the beginning, when it was quite slow to get into. I don't have many things to complain about, but there are a few. Firstly, everything was quite obvious. I mean I knew right from the start that Juliette and Adam would fall in love with each other. I also knew that he must've been a traitor, because it seemed to good to be true that he was there with her in her cell. Then, it was obvious that Warner would get obsessed with Juliette by the way he was acting from the first time he met her. These things that were meant as cliffhangers weren't very surprising. But that is just a minor fault.
The other one was that it was quite difficultly written as some times. I love that it's written from Juliette's perspective, and it's not surprising that she's on the brink of madness in the beginning of the book. But there are sentences that she thinks in her mind, but it's not that obvious that she's thinking them, and some sentences are crossed over or end without a punctuation. This could be considered as a uniqueness and beauty of the book, which I thought too in the beginning. However, after a while it only got irritating as I was reading.

But these negative things are nothing compared to the good things about the book. There was so much feeling in it that I had to put down the book occasionally to breathe, almost as if Tahereh poured her soul into it. I don't know if the author herself has experienced the kind of loneliness that Juliette does, but it certainly seems like it. I got so incredibly sad at times when Juliette was lonely and doubted herself, but oh so happy when she and Adam had cute moments. Oh by the way, there were reaaaaaalllllyyy hot moments in this book, I can tell you ;) I was like whhhoooaaa calm down peeps. While were talking about this; OH MY DEAR GOD ADAM. Adam, Adam, Adam. He's just perfect in such an imperfect way, you know? He's got faults, but also amazing traits and he is described as completely gorgeous too. I need to read the rest of the trilogy now, but I haven't bought the two books remaining yet. They're called Unravel Me and Ignite Me, and then there's a sequel series called Destroy Me (Written from Warner's point of view) and Fracture Me (From Adam's point of view) which I need to read to.

I highly recommend this books, and I'd give it a 9/10, because of the same reason as Filippa. I'm saving my ten for something amazing, even more amazing than this book. But seriously, READ IT! Especially you Filippa, 'cause I need someone to fangirl with. Now.

So, here's at least a little look into what books I want to read, and I've heard great things about these books. I'm the kind of person who likes to know what books are really good before I buy them, so I don't waste time on a bad book. If one of you has the time and willpower to count these, let me know! ;)
